What should I wear to be a volunteer?
We are asked this question a lot because a Mudder event is not a usual event – we’re full of MUD! Here are a few top tips –
- Layers: The volunteer t-shirt always needs to be the top layer, so we recommend layers underneath that you can adjust as the weather changes throughout the day. Clothes may get dirty so please plan accordingly!
- Waterproof Gear: Rain or shine, it’s always possible that you may get wet as a Tough Mudder MVP.
- Comfortable Shoes/Boots: You will be standing for a lot of the time you are on site, so we recommend comfortable shoes with good support that you don’t mind getting muddy. Please keep in mind no open toe shoes are allowed. Hiking boots are strongly recommended!
- If it’s hot, remember a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses to help protect you.
- If it’s cold, remember a hat, scarf, gloves, warm socks, and a winter jacket to keep you warm and protected.
- If you’re the type of person who likes to entertain an audience, bring your colorful wig or favorite tutu! Just make sure your volunteer shirt will fit over any accessories.
With all of this, remember that the better prepared you are, the more enjoyable your experience will be. This is an 8-12 hour shift so please come prepared with the tools you need. You are always welcome to bring your own snacks, water, camping chair, and speaker. If you have any questions about what you may bring onsite please reach out to mvp@toughmudder.com.
