WTM Participation Categories
World's Toughest Mudder participants may compete in one of three categories, based upon the experience they wish to pursue and eligibility for podium prizing.
- There will no longer be separate leaderboards for Open and Contender/Elite Contender categories. All participants will be eligible for overall and age group podiums/awards.
- CONTENDER: Athletes can qualify for Contender and Elite Contender status by meeting certain eligibility requirements at 2023 Tough Mudder Infinity and Toughest Mudder events. Each of these statuses earn the athlete an exclusive bib, early pit selection, and priority access to the start chute at WTM.
- OPEN: All non-contender athletes participating as individuals will be considered part of the Open category. For 2023, Open category participants are eligible for podium positions, age group awards and prizes.
- TEAM CATEGORY: Teams of 2-4 people of any age or gender registered in the team category may compete as a team pursuant to the rules outlined in this document. All teams, regardless of size, will be ranked against all other legally competing teams in this category.
