As a general rule, adaptive athletes are not required to provide supportive documentation to participate in Tough Mudder events.
There are two instances in which documentation and/or proof of diagnosis may be required:
- Adaptive athletes requesting the support of a complimentary course guide and/or team may be asked to provide proof of diagnosed impairment
- Adaptive athletes applying to participate within one of the seven adaptive subcategories at Toughest Mudder or World’s Toughest Mudder may be asked to provide proof of diagnosed impairment. These subcategories are:
- Upper Extremity
- Lower Extremity
- Seated Athlete
- Short Stature
- Intellectual Disability
In order to qualify for a complimentary course guide or inclusion within an adaptive athlete category at a competitive event, the athlete must provide proof of diagnosis for the relevant, permanent impairment.
