What’s it like to support an adaptive athlete as a course guide?
Most of our guides describe the experience as fun, inspirational, life-changing, and hard! As a guide, you will be linked up with an athlete for the entire day, assisting them in both the physical and mental hurdles of taking on a momentous challenge.
Your day will include:
Assisting in navigating the festival and preparing for course
Guiding your athlete throughout the course
Assisting your athlete with equipment and nutrition
Aiding with transporting equipment
Aiding athletes in getting into/out of equipment at obstacles
Pulling/pushing equipment (by hand and/or with harnesses)
Assisting in navigating challenging terrain
Scouting ahead and anticipating course challenges
Supporting in completing obstacles
Assisting with wayfinding/navigation
Coordinating with fellow Mudders to safely get your athlete through the course
Always remember that your athlete’s safety and wellbeing come first. Don’t overdo the pace or attempt obstacles in an unsafe manner. Tough Mudder is all about overcoming personal challenges, not recklessly crashing through them.
